Welcome to the Hallie E. Ford center 2023 Fall/Winter Newsletter!
The Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families (HFC) at Oregon State University fosters interdisciplinary collaboration within four research cores: Early Childhood, Healthy Eating and Active Living, Youth and Young Adults, and Parenting and Family Life.
In the past few years, the Center has experienced tremendous growth including receiving over $40 million dollars in funding awarded to HFC researchers.
Below we offer information on our cores as well as links to each of the centers and programs active in the HFC. Center-Wide Updates
We are bursting at the seams with updates in the Hallie Ford Center! We have had many exciting and successful events this fall alone! We’ve launched a new event calendar for the Center!
We have successfully distributed nearly 50,000 Bunny to Bunny books! Thanks to a generous gift by the Panda family Foundation.
And, we’ve had an immensely successful 2023 Campbell Lecture, where Eve. L. Ewing spoke to us about “The [Mis]Education of Black and Native Youth and the Construction of American Racism”.
Core Updates
Early Childhood Core This Core focuses on optimizing children's development and well-being in families, early care and educational settings, and communities.

Parenting and Family Life Core This core examines healthy parenting and family life as a strong foundation for child and youth development, and healthy communities as a strong foundation for families.

Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL)Core The HEAL core focuses on the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the prevention of obesity in children and families through nutrition and physical activity.

Youth and Young Adults Core Researchers in this core study the behaviors and environments that threaten or enhance the health and well-being of youth.
Cross Core Programs, Centers, and Collaboration
Family Policy Group The Family Policy Group conducts research on policy analysis (i.e., impacts of policies) and policy processes related to children and families.
